Needless to say, the safe has a 'no confidence' vote now, so regardless, it's junk. I've offered my Makita hand held grinder for the demo. I bought an air compressor from HF.lasted less than a year.
Not sure how they stay in business. Hey Steve, they got your money, didn't they?
That's how they stay in business! Haven't been up to Inde since Feb., so it's getting to be about time to make the trip again. Maybe I'll see ya around. Tom I wrote up a $2500 order today from a customer who brought one of my products 4 years ago and loves it. That's how you stay in business, not one shot deals. Pressing the red reset button and then entering a new code followed by A or B did indeed work. I was pretty sure that was how to do it, but I wanted to ask first:) It is extremely easy to 'bump' this safe open, and I have screwed it down to prevent this (or at least make it harder). An badly designed override lock would make the safe kind of useless:( The good news however, is that my model does not seem to have one.
Since I could not see a key hole, I assumed it would be under the round thing to the left of the handle that retracts the bolt, but after removing two screws (from the inside) prying a bit with a screw driver and shining a flashlight in, I can clearly see that it is just solid metal behind it. Googling the model number you posted took me to and the picture shows a safe that is clearly a relative of mine, but not quite the same. For example, mine has one broad square bolt in the middle instead of the two round ones - and no keyhole to the left of the key pad. (Other places on the Internet suggests to 'Remove the detachable front panel cover of the safe' to use the override key, but after removing the small black screw on the front and two screws from the inside, the front cover does NOT come off. It looks like you can remove the entire inside plastic cover with four screws, but I have not tried that yet.).

My thoughts in owning a safe was/is not so much theft prevention as FIRE damage prevention to important documents (and a little emergency cash). The safe is rated for 2 hours in a fire, and weighs about 50 lbs. Astra 2015 service manual.

I also put duct tape 'straps' around mine, keep it in the closet, so I can quickly chuck it out of the bedroom escape window in case of a fire. I have a chain ladder, window channel slide-over pillow, and a window hold-open prop pvc pipe in case emergency egress is needed from the bedroom. I also have important documents scanned to a thumbdrive and NOT kept in the trailer. I use a small MicroVault safe that is secured with a cable.
If you have a hydraulic bedroom slide, under the bed works very nicely by wrapping the cable around the slide mechanism frame. It our 3670, it also mounts, with some additional hardware, in the closet. Large enough for keeping the checkbook, extra cash/credit cards, and a Keltec P-11 or Ruger LCP. It will keep the opportunistic slimeball out, but a determined turdball, with tools, could probably get it out after a while. But then, they would not want me to come back and find them trying to remove it.
